I Have To Be Visible/I Have To Hide

I Have To Be Visible/I Have To Hide was my first solo show, on display in the Godino Wing of the Exeter Public Library in Exeter, NH for the month of March, 2023.

 

The series is a manifestation of the emotions surrounding my gender transition and what it means to be visibly trans and queer in today’s political climate.  To be visible is to provide hope and solidarity to others with similar identities; to hide is to conform, to preserve one’s safety.  Those of us who mask our disabilities, our mannerisms, or other aspects of our identities all understand this weighted decision.
